ON TOUR
You keep talking about missions, what are these?
In essence, we consider a ‘Mission’ as an exploratory run into a new area. On missions, our focus is never about how far or fast we are running, but how much exploring we can fit into a given time. We often find ourselves walking, stopping to take extraordinary photos, sneaking a selfie and pausing to enjoy a vista. Therefore, on a mission we are mostly running but also hiking & enjoying the scenery. With the pressure off you can take your time and really soak up the surrounds.
How far do you run each day?
Every tour is different. However, we always ease into each tour with shorter 45-90min ‘running missions’, depending on the tour & destination. As the tours progress and the regions become more wild, we normally embark on some longer 3-5hr run/hikes. However, for these longer outings we always take plenty of nutrition & hydration provisions, and make sure that there are lots of stops for photographs and soaking up the vistas. On these longer missions, the group will often be split to cater for each ability and fitness level.
How many guests attend a Find Your Feet Tour?
Each tour is limited to only 8-14 guests, depending on accommodation & transport options available. Your tour will always be hosted by at least two expert Find Your Feet guides. If we do the sums, this is a potential of 10 - 16 new trail running friends!
What will I learn?
Over the duration of your tour you will have access to our expert guides and coaches who always strive to facilitate an environment of education and learning for all elements of trail running. We are eager to share our knowledge on gear, equipment, nutrition, wilderness safety and conservation, adventure or race planning, local environmental and cultural significance and running techniques tips and tricks that will have you dancing, thriving and keeping safe on the trails.
We also want to uncover the lesser know elements of any location and culture we immerse ourselves in, therefore providing a real experience of learning and growth on each individual tour you can join us on!

What does an average day on tour look like?
We endeavour to make each day a mixture of running, sight-seeing, cultural experiences and relaxation time. The day will often start with an optional, short jog before breakfast to explore the local surrounds and watch the world awake. Following breakfast, we normally embark on our main run for the day which may take you through until lunch time. This run will involve lots of stops for photographs and often some walking too. It is almost always a trail run. After a simple lunch (often a picnic or small cafe) we try to allow lots of time for sight-seeing and relaxation. At the end of the afternoon we may head out for another short walk or jog although this is dependent on how much energy we have expended during the morning. Dinner will always be hosted together and is spent sharing stories and experiences. Then it is earlier to bed to ensure we have plenty of energy for the next day!
What level of accommodation should I expect?
Find Your Feet takes great pride in taking its Running Tour guests to the most beautiful & tranquil accommodation settings. These are often small villas, guest houses, eco-lodges, boutique hotels or holiday houses. As a general rule, our accommodation is a minimum 4 star. However, occasionally we might throw in a more remote experience such as Waldheim Cabins which are tucked into the King Billy Pine Trees at the Overland Track trail head (although these nights will always be documented in the trip’s itinerary).
Who will I room with on the tour?
If you book with a friend or partner, we always endeavour to have you rooming together throughout the trip. We also strongly try to book twin-share rooms for our guests. However, in some accommodation settings this is not possible and you may need to room with other guests of the same sex, such as in small ryokan’s in Japan.
How can I help to protect the environments?
Environmental Responsibilities
We recognise that travel can have a larger carbon footprint but we do believe that in order to be the best versions of ourselves, ready to be eco-conscious, we also need to learn the art of being wilder and be exposed to the landscapes & cultures that we wish to protect, enrich and be the custodians of. For our Find Your Feet Tours, we seek out these places and communities, always striving to support their local businesses and individuals doing the right thing by our natural environments. Their hospitality amongst these enriching landscapes feeds our well-being, so that we return home eager to pass this newly found energy and knowledge forward. We call this 'regenerative tourism'.
Therefore, we ask you, our guests, to consider tours that have you 'playing locally', travelling as lightly as possible, carbon off-setting flights, requesting more vegetarian or plant-based meals where possible, and supporting our 'no plastic bag & disposable cup' policy. Furthermore, we request that our guests return home and plant trees, support their local communitie's endeavours, grow flowers for the insects and bees, and strive to use public or active transport whereever possible.
Our Running Tours are often located within a World Heritage Area or National Park, and if not, in very beautiful regions. Therefore, environmental responsibilities are taken very seriously. Prior to departure, you will be briefed about your responsibilities to help us protect these treasured areas. However, prior knowledge and awareness is extremely helpful. A good reference on such matters is the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service web site www.parks.tas.gov.au. As a general rule, we abide by minimal impact bushwalking principles & the ‘leave no trace other than footsteps’ policy.
