CHOOSING A TOUR
Which tour should I choose?
We provide a range of tours to suit the need of every trail runner. Our classifications are:
- Discovery Tours – Perfect for runners new to the trails or worried about fitness (or taking too many photos!)
- Moderate Tours – Seeking a challenge? Our moderate tours suit the more experienced trail runners and we have set some basic mandatory criteria for athletes seeking a place on these tours.
- Advanced Tours – These tours are reserved for the very experienced and fit trail runners who have prior ultra running experience. For safety reasons, on these Advanced tours, we require every runner to meet a number of mandatory criteria.
Still not sure? Contact us today and we will happily direct you towards the most appropriate tour for your needs.
Am I fit enough to come on a Find Your Feet Tour?
YES! Anyone of any ability will enjoy our Find Your Feet Tours. Whilst the runs on our tours are great training, our emphasis is on ‘exploring’. Therefore, the mentality of the runs is about moving at a pace that everyone can enjoy, stopping frequently to take photos and enjoy the unique surrounds. Many participants chose to walk at times so as to enjoy their surroundings more. If you are starting out on your trail running journey or wish to have the most relaxed running holiday, we strongly encourage you to come on a Discovery Tour.
Conditions of Fitness
Guests must be in good health and be moderately fit in order to undertake 4-10 days of consecutive running. Training and preparation work is required prior to departure and after booking onto a tour we will send you some more tips & tricks to assist you. The more physically prepared you are, the more enjoyable your tour will be. Speak with our super friendly & knowledgeable staff for more information about health and fitness requirements, and running preparation. We don’t want the process of preparing for a tour to be arduous but we do want you to arrive feeling confident in your preparation.
On our Discovery Tours, some fitness will be required to run/walk an average of 10-18km per day for 5 days over varied terrain, with the longest day being around 18km or 4hrs (not including optional side trips).
On our Moderate Tours, good fitness & trail running skills will be required to run an average of 15km-25km per day over moderate to very uneven terrain.
On our Advanced Tours, excellent fitness, trail running skills & experience will be required. Days can be long and with numerous challenges.
Hanny Allston has produced many training planners that could assist you in your preparations for our tours. We strongly encourage you to browse her resources and to make contact with her if you have any further questions about training for our tours.
