Join Find Your Feet & 360 Expeditions on a jungle and mountain trek to Mount Kinabalu (4,095m) , Borneo’s highest mountain. This granite mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an area of immense biodiversity with over 5,000 plant species including more than 800 different orchids alone. There are also 326 individual bird species that occupy this outstanding National Park.
The tour, delivered by 360 Expeditions, will trek through pristine jungle and our guests will learn survival skills as they go – from foraging for local fruit and vegetables, to building camp fires, frog-hunting and making shelters. Whilst the mountain can be climbed reasonably quickly if you begin at the park gate and head up via the normal route, this 12-day tour actually begins far further back in the jungle, with 4 days spent trekking through the rainforest, following rivers, climbing in and out of gorges and following the ridge lines. By night we camp in hammocks after enjoying barbecue suppers. Finally we will reach the park gate to commence the 2-day ascent to the summit.
This spectacular expedition will come to an end with a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, one of the highlights of Sabah, as well as a river safari on Malaysia’s second longest river, Kinabatangan.
